Robin Williams just committed suicide and Facebook comes alive with all sorts of comments. It was his CHOICE comes screaming up on the page hi-lighting the confusion many believers face in knowing how to reconcile the use of their free will and the choices they make. This issue must be addressed.
Placing blame and making judgments as a result of those choices seems to be a spiritual activity few of us seem able to resist. But as with anything, jumping to ...Continue Reading →
For those caught up in the pursuit having good things happen to them by doing good things for others, and wanting to feel good and be emotionally satisfied, the notion of Karma, at first glance, appears to be the ticket. It lets us control the positive experiences we will have in the future by teaching us to do nice things now. Although this has the potential for shifting the world into a more ...Continue Reading →
Because we associate the Law with God, and sin with breaking the Law, and breaking the Law with the wrath of God, every time we sin we feel like we are making God mad. Not realizing that Jesus Christ has already fulfilled the demands of the Law by Himself, and that there was none found righteous enough to complete the Law’s requirements within themselves has pulled many unsuspecting believers away from the place ...Continue Reading →
The options for justice are limited for the unbeliever. Their desire for the restoration of fairness becomes a matter of revenge that pushes them to take matters into their own hands. For the believer, the restoration of justice begins with forgiveness and ends with turning the matters in question over to the Righteous Judge of all the Earth and the Court of Heaven.
There seems, however, to be one caveat to Divine justice and receiving answers to prayer ...Continue Reading →
Many people do not consider the possibility of spiritual warfare as a valid premise in explaining things that happen to them in their world. But, if we refuse to acknowledge the battle between God and Satan as a fundamental fact, then nothing that happens in life or its constant onslaught of problems and troubles makes any sense.
If we refuse to put the Devil into the equation we will be tempted to call God unjust and cruel. If all ...Continue Reading →
Let us “be diligent to present ourselves approved to God, a worker that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth,” (II Tim. 3:15). There are some things that are innately evil, and dedicated to the purposes of evil. These are clearly forbidden by God in His Word and are not to be entertained or tolerated by the believer. Idolatry, witchcraft, sexual perversions are just a few of the things forbidden. For a complete list of ...Continue Reading →
And what if the rules change? — which the Enemy also does, just to mix it up a little. When I was a girl I grew up devoutly religious. There were rules for everything. We were told that eating “meat” on Friday was a mortal sin. I never questioned why God would make such a rule. It was a rule. So, I never ate meat on Fridays for fear of going to hell when I died.
When I became a young ...Continue Reading →
Dear Friends of Jesus, Thank you for taking a few moments to read this.
In recent years we have battled to keep Christ in Christmas, determined not to switch out greetings of “Merry Christmas” for “Happy Holidays”. Now we are faced with a new dilemma: Is Christmas really a time when Christians should be celebrating the birth of Jesus, or is it just another pagan holiday dressed up to look like something good that we would do well to avoid?
The Enemy ...Continue Reading →
Why is life so “unfair”? Why are so many things in life, “just wrong”!? Why do the bad things often seem to out weigh the good? And, how can a “good God” let all these bad things keep happening; like injustice and unanswered prayers and abused children? When nothing is right or fair, it just makes it all the harder to believe that God is good and that things can get better.
The issue of believing ...Continue Reading →
